About ReefValve
ReefValve reviews scuba diving equipment. We buy or borrow gear, dive it, and publish what we found — including the parts a manufacturer would rather we left out.
Why the site works from data
Every product on this site exists first as a structured record: manufacturer specification, measured mass where it is published, depth rating, materials, port counts, and our own test notes as pros and cons. Pages are generated from those records. That means a correction is made once and lands everywhere, and it means no review quietly contradicts the specification table above it.
What the five scores mean
- Bench — where the product's rating sits inside its own category, so a strong regulator is measured against regulators rather than against masks.
- Build — material and durability evidence in the specification and test notes, reduced where our notes record wear, leaks or flex.
- Comfort — fit, breathing effort and ergonomics as reported over full dives.
- Packed weight — measured mass ranked against everything else in the category. Where a manufacturer publishes no figure, we fall back to documented evidence and say so.
- Value — advantages weighed against drawbacks, with explicit price objections counted against the score.
How we are funded
Affiliate commission, and nothing else. When you buy through a link on this site we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Links appear once per review, directly beneath the button they describe. No brand has ever paid for a placement, a ranking, or a change to a score, and we do not accept payment to remove a criticism.
Corrections
If a specification here is wrong, tell us and we will fix the record rather than the page — which means the correction reaches every review that referenced it.
