The WTX-D is a wing-and-harness system rather than a jacket BCD, and everything about it is designed to come apart. The wing is offered in 20 L and 30 L lift, the harness is reinforced webbing with an adjustable sternum strap, and the weight pockets are quick-release and detachable. The backplate can be steel or aluminium depending on how much ballast you want built into the rig. Because those parts separate, one purchase covers a warm-water single-tank configuration and a cold-water doubles or drysuit setup.

In the water, the boot-style wing keeps bulk and drag down while the semi-rigid hydrodynamic backpad holds the diver stable, which is what makes horizontal trim easy to maintain during wreck penetration or a decompression stop. Lift distributes evenly rather than pushing the diver into a head-up posture. D-ring placement is set up for technical and travel use, giving clean attachment points for lights and stage bottles without adding snag hazards, and the dump handles on the weight system are reachable under load.

Materials are Cordura nylon and stainless steel hardware, which is the combination that survives repeated saltwater exposure and abrasion against boat ladders and wreck edges. At about 3.9 kg for the 20 L version the BCD alone is heavier than a travel-oriented jacket, and the setup takes genuine effort the first time — harness webbing has to be adjusted to your body rather than clipped on. Storage is the other honest gap: compared with a jacket-style BCD there is very little pocket space.
